If you're on the hunt for some easy to implement sustainable and eco-friendly ideas for your wedding day, I have 3 for you. I'm no eco warrior, however In the last few years I have taken a new approach to being more eco-aware by trying to do little things that are easy to do, and this list is just that- small changes you might consider making. These changes aren't only good to our planet, but good for your purse too, considering the average cost of a wedding.

1.CONSIDER A DRIED WEDDING BOUQUET VS FRESH FLOWERS

One simple swap is your wedding flowers- including your bouquet and decor. Fresh flowers are not only very costly, but aren't as environmentally friendly as you might think. Harmful chemicals are used in the production process, importation of flowers has a huge carbon footprint and they only get used for one day.

My favourite small business that make beautiful dried bridal bouquets, hair accessories and decor is Hidden Botanics. I may be little partial to this brand because they designed a custom flower crown for my wedding day. Hidden Botanics is run by a UK based couple who sustainably grow 85% of all their dried flowers, and aim to reach 100% by 2024, they're a no Co2 business who offset their carbon footprint for shipping their products and are working with Ecologi to plant more trees in the UK among many other wonderful things.

Their wedding bouquets sell from as little as £10.00.

2.Plants as wedding favours

I love this idea that we did for our wedding. You can swap the usual edible wedding favours for gifts that your guests can keep and watch grow forever, and even share with you (we had a cutting from one guest's plant as a gift for our 1st anniversary present.) the best part about these is that you can also use them instead of place cards; simply swap the "Let love grow" message for your guests' names. Check your local markets or garden centre for beautiful plants, or even better have a go at growing your own.

3.plantable wedding invitations

Digital wedding invitations have become a popular option for eco brides. But if you're like me and appreciate some beautiful stationery you might not be willing to forgo this part of your wedding planning. Enter plantable wedding stationery, there are many small businesses that make beautiful plantable stationery, one that I found after an afternoon of googling is Little Green Wedding by Little Green Paper , a small family run business offering different wedding stationery designs on seeded paper, they also do custom designs if you have something specific in mind. Their paper includes seeds like poppy, daisy, rudbeckia, forget me not, baby's breath, black-eyed susan.
